Buying or selling a house is a little like conducting an orchestra.  From the very beginning of the process, a good agent will be with you every step of the way!

So what are those steps:

The Buyer

Buying a house is not like buying something at the store--and it certainly is a lot more money.  So let's look at some of the parts that you need to think about.

Pre-Approval:  Before you start the process of searching for a new home, you need to be sure that you can afford the house BEFORE you fall in love with it.  Talk to your bank or mortgage company, or I can suggest a couple of options:

Stan Makowski at RSM

Shawn Harrassey at Guaranteed Rate

for a no commitment review of your current financial situation.

House Shopping:  Today, most people begin their home search on the Internet.  Use the Search Tab above and just start playing.  Remember, buying a new home should be a fun, exciting (and maybe a bit scary) experience, so this is the part where you dream about your ideal home, and then see how close you can get to it.  To help you think about what that new home will look like, take a few minutes to complete the Home Buyer's Grid.  In fact, if you are buying with someone else, both of you should complete the grid independently and then compare your answers.  You might just discover some interesting things about each other.

Picking an Agent:  Of course I would like you to choose me.  To find out a bit more about me, just click on "About Me".  But regardless of who you choose, be sure that you feel comfortable with them and that you trust them!  For most people, this is the biggest purchasing decision that you will ever make--make it a good one!
